Through all these years and countless game drives, I have been blessed with incredible sightings of animals old and young, big and small, timid and brazen. But I had one dream that was yet to come true - spotting a baby leopard...

Always expect the unexpected
Let’s rewind to the last day of 2025, which Gabi, Satya and I sent off at a mobile camp deep in the heart of South Serengeti. Esirai is a very small and intimate camp, and the staff and 8 other guests had gone to bed early, leaving the three of us with a bottle of champagne and the ambition to make it to midnight. We sat at the porch of my tent, looking out into the vast darkness beyond, listening to the grunts of the wildebeest and zebras running behind our tents. Satya was in charge of scanning the area for feline visitors with a big flashlight, which, at exactly ten minutes to midnight, light up a pair of eyes in the darkness, no more than 50 meters from us...

Spotting the spots
Leopard spotting in the savannah is a rather special art form. Leopards are shy, elusive and practically invisible among the sun-struck leaves of the canopy. Spots blend with shadows, tails turn into branches, white belly dissolves into grey bark. So we knew we were up for a challenge on that cool January morning when we heard that a female leopard nearby had gone out to hunt the night before. Nobody had seen her catch prey or knew where she had settled for the day, but our guide was confident we would spot her...

Happy birthday, Ethera!
Just like that, Ethera turned 3 years old! And we all know 3 is a magical number, especially for us: 3 founders, 3 countries, 3 years. What an adventure it has been...
And happy birthday to you, friends! Thank you for making these 3 years truly magical; it really is a dream come true, and we are eternally grateful for your time and trust.
